First few foods for Matthew

At five months we started feeding Matthew rice cereal.  Then at six months we started other baby foods.  He loves it, and is such a good little eater.  I'm quickly having flash-forwards of him eating us out of house and home in 10 or so years.  These were some of his first few attempts at eating "real" food!

Not sure what all the fuss is about, just relaxing in my high chair.

Ocassionally he has some funny faces, but most of the time he doesn't react.

Matthew's first trip to Texas

In early November (yes this post is long over due) some good friends of ours were getting married in Texas.  We couldn't decide whether to make that long trip or not, especially with an almost 2 month old, but decided it was well worth it to be at their wedding, and to see family again.  What is normally a ten hour drive, turned into a twelve hour drive with Matthew, but we all somehow survived. Thanks to Shane for driving almost the entire way!  Matthew loved his first visit to Texas and got to experience a lot of things many almost 2 month olds would never dream of!
Our sweet friends Alex & Sarah Beth Smith! Their wedding was beautiful and so much fun.  I wish I had taken more pictures because the reception was a barn dance at Alex's parents Christmas Tree farm.  Sarah Beth and her family did a great job decorating everything.  Despite being a little warm (hense why Matthew doesn't have socks on!), we all had a wonderful time celebrating their marriage!
Our first family picture all dressed up for the wedding!
My brother was a groomsmen.
Sweet cousin Emma loving on Matthew.
Matthew's first Texas A&M football game!
 Kyle Field!

Aunt Kristin enjoying some baby time
Pawpaw loved showing off his new grandson to all his clients at the suite.
Sleeping with Grammy.
This was the first time all three cousins had been together.  We think they have many years of fun times together in the future!

Baking with Mom

Matthew spent a lot of one on one time with me this past week, so it has been interesting getting things done around the house.  However, we still had a great week staying busy while Shane is away, though we definitely miss him every day. Whether vacuuming, doing laundry, taking the trash out, or baking he loves being held or very near, and ends up in the moby wrap more often than not!  Earlier this week I made banana bread and Matthew insisted on helping (aka wanting to be held instead of playing on his own).  He is grabbing everything in front of him lately, so it was quite the challenge, but fun to have a partner in the kitchen.  See for yourself!

Christmas in West Texas

We were excited to spend a few days in Odessa this year during Christmas.  It was Matthew's first time to West Texas, and several great-grandparents first time to meet him. We spent our time catching up with family, relaxing, eating, and playing games.
Uncle Ross warming up to Matthew!
 Four generations of Darville men!
 Cuddle time
Matthew met his two great grandfathers!

Also spent some time with his great grandmothers!
