Ft. Walton Beach, Florida

Last weekend we decided to feed our newly acquired addiction to the beach, and took a spur of the moment trip to Florida.  It was quick (Friday-Sunday), but we enjoyed plenty of sunshine, and time relaxing, doing next to nothing besides eating, sleeping, and laying on the white sand beaches.  We stayed at Eglin Air Force Base (I just learned that military can stay in lodging at other military post/bases very inexpensively, yay!), which was just about 15 minutes away from Ft. Walton Beach (30 minutes from Destin).  It was beautiful, and I would highly recommend the Ft. Walton/Destin area for white sand beaches and blue clear waters.  I honestly didn't realize those existed inside the United States.

Yard Sale/Flea Market

Saturday was the post-wide yard sale and flea market.  We headed out to the flea market (that was conveniently located about two blocks away on the soccer fields) area first, which was basically just tons of individuals that brought their yard sale items to one place.  Then walked through our neighborhood and several others nearby.  We ended up making three trips back to our house to drop off the loot.  We have been talking about several different projects I wanted to do, and this was a great opportunity to get some things to start on.
Old window - $4 (Marked 5, offered 4)
Sander - $12 (It was marked 20, I offered 10, and he countered with 12)
Sandpaper to fit the sander - $3
1 Set of exactly Shane's size ACU's - $6 (A brand new set retails for $75)
Sequence game - .50 (Marked $1)
Mirror with wooden frame - .50 (Marked $1)
2 old wooden chairs - FREE!
Total spent - $26

Stay tuned to find out what I make of all of our new treasures!

Jacksonville, Florida

Last weekend Shane and I ventured down to Florida for his four day holiday weekend.  We had a great time, but didn't take many pictures (shocking I know...).  Despite the fires, drought, and hurricanes going on in other parts of the country, the weather in Florida was spectacular.  Ross (Shane's brother) lent us his condo in Jacksonville, while he went back to Texas for the weekend, which made it nice to be able to take groceries and cook some of the time.  Most of our time, however, was spent on the beach or driving along the beach looking at humongous houses.  We also did some shopping, site seeing, went for walks, and caught the Aggies football game on tv Sunday night.  Onto planning our next adventure...
